And finally came this day and the end of the Second World War OTD in 1945. Victory over Japan Day is commemorated on September 2 in the United States. It is observed by Great Britain, Commonwealth countries and some others on August 15, in China on September 3 and also in the Philippines on September 3 when Imperial Japanese Army General Yamashita surrendered.

Regardless of which day this is observed, for the 35th Photo Recon Squadron in China, the period was one of change, as described in a new article posted on the 142nd Wing webpage, “Redhawk Squadron on Victory Over Japan Day” at: https://www.142wg.ang.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/3513090/redhawk-squadron-on-victory-over-japan-day/
